Veiled Lady Fungus (Phallus indusiatus)
Gets its name from white delicate lacy “skirt”, that hangs by a conical to bell-shaped cap on a stalk which is approximately 25cm long, the plant is a species of fungal mushroom, it secreates a substance attracting insects to help spread the fungus.
It is consumed as food in various Asian countries, contains as bioactive compound exhibiting antimicrobial properties, used in traditional chinese medication, and also featured in Nigerian folklore.
The Corpse Plant (Amorphophallus)
The Corpse Plant or Amorphophallus is a flowering plant with the largest unbranched inflorescence in the world. It smells like a rotting animal corpse, which gives it the name. It is rare and now officially a ‘threatened’ species.
The Corpse Flower (Rafflesia)
It has no stems, leaves or true roots, is the largest known flower in the world. In some cases the flower may be over 100cm diameter, and weigh up to 10kg.
Similar to the corpse flower, it also posses rotting smell, and looks like flesh. Both Rafflesia and Amorphophallus are flowering plants, and are distantly related. The Rafflesia is also sometimes known as the corpse flower or meat flower.
Lantern Flower (Ceropegia)
Some think that these flowers look like a fountain of wax. Common names of these flowers are lantern flower, parasol flower, parachute flower, bushman’s pipe, string of hearts, snake creeper, wine-glass vine, rosary vine, and necklace vine. The flower is made in such a way that when a flies sits on it, gets trapped inside and covers itself in pollen from the flowers when it gets out.
Living Stone (Lithops)
They look like stone, they survive by hiding themselves as pebbles, and are known as stone plants or pebble plants. In some areas, they are known as the living stones. The leaves are hidden in the soil, light travels from between two rock like structures of the plant, the light reaches the leaves through a gap between the two stones for photosynthesis.
The entire plant might disappear below the soil during a drought.
Bladderworts are found in tropical and temperate ponds all over the world. They use little air sacs to float when they are blooming, and then when it’s not blooming time they drift underwater.
It uses vaccum to suck into little insects and small fishes.

The body is tough when wet, and hard when dry.
Cape Sundew (Drosera capensis)
Is a carnivorous plant, it catches its prey by slowly curling its leaves aroung the insects, its prey include small flies, spiders and other small insects, the plant secretes sticky substance which traps the insects initially, before it slowly wraps its leaves to digest the insect, it takes it about 30 min to do so.
Sensitive Plant (Mimosa pudica)
This plant is common, in fact, it grows like weed in southern Asia. The leaves of this plant closes as soon as something comes in contact with it. It grows in untouched parts, mostly in shade of trees, it touches as soon as it is touched, shaken or blown on and opens up after a couple of minutes, in addition to closing the leaves droop as if they were dead from being touched.
Tropical Pitcher (Nepenthes)
The name “monkey cups” is known as monkeys have been observed drinking from the pitchers. They are filled with a liquid, which contains viscoelastic biopolymers that are used to drown the prey and keep them in the pitches until they are digested. The plant contains a shallow root system and a 15 mtr long prostate or stem.
The plant is endangered, can swallow rodents, lizards, insects, large insects, and anything that might fit into the pitcher is digested by it.
Dragon’s-Blood Tree (Dracaena cinnabari)
The Dragon Blood Tree is name given due to the red colored sap it produces. It is used as a stimulant and abortifacient. The resin in roots are used as astringent and toothpaste. The fleshy berry fruit it bears is orange-red color that contains one to three seeds, though not eaten by humans, they are consumed by animals or birds, the shape of the trees keeps a significant amount f shade below to keep the soil wet and grow in arid regions.

As the name suggests, it closes quickly like a trap as soon as something comes in contact with it, if a preyis trapped inside it, it is slowly digested within the trap leaving the remains, unlike other plants, it does not contain resins or juices to attract its prey. The trap closes after waiting about 20 sec to avoid loosing energy on too many false preys.

Looks like eyes, these are berries, the fruits of the plant, which are extremely poisounous to humans, however, birds can eat these berries.
Widely spread word over the web is that these plants actually grow in the shape of little people, closely resemble humans, the most amazing thing, is that the root of the plant grows as humans.
But there is no evidence as such and skeptics believe (including me) that the plants are grown by using molds to give them shape, this process is done by placing a mold while plant takes its shape when it grows.
